THX is an audio-video reference certification standard of excellence based on a series of measureable performance criteria established by THX to ensure one simple but incredibly challenging objective: to accurately reproduce the filmmaker’s intended audio and video performance as it was originally created and intended for the audience experience. THX certified screening rooms must meet with rigorous room construction, noise reduction, and audio-video calibration specifications in order to receive THX certification. IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE's highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. HAA is an alliance of independent audio-video professionals dedicated to the pursuit of sonic greatness in the home entertainment experience. The Home Acoustics Alliance has worked over the years to create a worldwide network of audio calibration practitioners. Their mission is divided equally between creating superb home audio and educating the consumer; they believe consumer awareness drives the evolution of excellence. An HAA professional stands out by defining excellence; releasing the calibration of Home Theater performance from the realm of uncertainty becoming a disciplined art and science. Since 1994, the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) has been the industry standard of excellence for the training and certification of video display calibration technicians around the world. ISF certified dealers are required to pass tests and invest in professional test equipment. The Audio Engineering Society is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. Founded in the United States in 1948, the AES has grown to become an international organization that unites audio engineers, creative artists, scientists and students worldwide by promoting advances in audio and disseminating new knowledge and research. Founded in 1975, the American Society of Interior Designers is the oldest, largest and leading professional organization for interior designers. ASID inspires and enriches its members by promoting the value of interior design, while providing indispensable knowledge and experiences that build relationships. The Society's 18,000 practicing interior designers work in all areas of both commercial and residential design. Professional members of ASID must pass rigorous acceptance standards: They must have a combination of accredited design education and/or full-time work experience and pass a two-day accreditation examination administered by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), founded in 1916 as the Society of Motion  Picture Engineers or SMPE, is an international professional association of engineers working in the motion imaging industries. An internationally-recognized standards organization, SMPTE has over 400 standards, Recommended Practices and Engineering Guidelines for television production, filmmaking, digital cinema, audio recording and medical imaging. In addition to development and publication of technical standard documents, SMPTE publishes a journal, provides networking opportunities for its members, produces academic conferences and exhibitions, and performs other industry-related functions.
